What is the Best Skin Care For Aging Skin?
Let’s face it. If you ask a dermatologist, what is the best skin care for aging; they will have a variety of different opinions. If you ask a cosmetic surgeon, they will recommend the treatments that they offer. You have to remember that these professionals are in the business of making money.
They want to sell botox injections, because the costs are very low, at least to them. The average cost varies, greatly. But, you can expect to pay at least $500 per injection. Typically, you will need at least two, one for each eye. But, if you decide that this is the right treatment for you, don’t cost shop. Many providers have been caught using black-market Botox. There were several severe cases of botulism poisoning traced back to providers using black-market Botox.
If you ask Dr. Nicholas Perricone, what is the best skin care for aging; he will have several recommendations. His dietary recommendations are good sound advice for anyone. Eating lots of fish and fresh vegetables seems to be the healthiest diet around. But, when it comes to his line of skincare products, there are problems.
His products include the base creams that most cosmetic companies swear by. Primarily, they are petrolatum and mineral oil. Neither of those is good for your skin’s health. They are not absorbed into the skin’s layers and they cause greasiness. The products also contain parabens and other artificial preservatives. We are learning more and more about how artificial preservatives negatively affect our health. It should have been obvious, all along, since they are the most common cause of allergic reactions.
If you ask some scientific researchers, what is the best skin care for aging; they may tell you about some effective ingredients to look for. For example, creams containing coenzyme Q10 have been shown to reduce wrinkling, repair sun damage and reduce roughness. Those containing bio-active keratin have been shown to increase firmness, moisture content and reduce inflammation. Those containing wakame kelp have been shown to inhibit enzymatic activity that breaks down and important compound called hyaluronic acid. Along with collagen and elastin, it is responsible for the skin’s firmness. Other types of algae extracts are beneficial for stimulating skin cell production. Avocado extract has been shown to increase the amount of soluble collagen.
Basically, there is scientific evidence supporting the use of nutrient-rich creams. If you want to know what is the best skin care for aging, that’s it.
Of course, a complete approach is always the most effective. Eating more fish is a good idea. Research has shown that increasing omega-3 intake increases the skin’s firmness by about 10% after three months.
Use a mild gentle cleanser, rather than a scrub or exfoliants. They may have worked for you in the past, but scrubs are more likely to do damage, as you get older.
Now that you are armed with this information, remember to remove makeup before going to bed and use a cream that was specifically designed for use at night. Those are just some of the answers to; what is the best skin care for aging. There are always other things to consider.

The Truth About Anti Aging Skin Care Treatment
![]()
This is an anti aging skin care guide that tells you some key truths you can’t avoid:
– Why skin cream works best when you’re taking care of your health;
– What treatments and ingredients are dangerous;
– What kind of anti aging skin care treatment has shown excellent results in clinical testing.
The skin killers are excessive sun, especially sunburn; smoking; and a diet high in sugar, starchy foods and dairy products. Now, I’m not a fanatic about the sun. I regularly get some sunshine and fresh air. Sunlight is the natural, free source of abundant vitamin D, which most of us in modern countries are lacking. Vitamin D is essential for good health. But avoid getting sunburned. That’s very important. Most people, even smokers, will agree that smoking is bad for you. Smoking has been shown to cause aging skin, you probably know that, so no lectures here. But most people don’t know that the food you eat makes a big difference in your skin.
Loren Cordain of the University of Colorado, is a researcher on the Paleo diet our ancestors ate. In many studies, he showed that it’s possible today to eat similar foods to our ancestors.
When we do, we can eliminate acne when nothing else has worked. (Dermatologists have been telling people for decades that diet has nothing to do with acne. It turns out those “experts” are dead wrong.)
Just as important — eating right can reverse aging markers, measured by exact scientific standards!
The foods that make the difference are: lean meats and fish; non-starchy vegetables and fruits; and healthy oils, like omega 3 fish oils, canola oil and olive oil.
![]()
The foods that make us fat, diabetic, and struggling with heart disease are the same ones that cause acne and wrinkled, sagging skin. They are refined sugar, fatty meats, dairy products and the starchy foods.
That includes milk, cheese, grains, cereals, bread, pasta and potatoes. It also includes most vegetable oils that we used to be told were great for health, like soybean oil, to take the most popular example.
The harsh anti aging skin care treatments include dermabrasion (scraping off the outer layer of skin), chemical peels (irritating the skin so the top layer peels off), and cosmetic surgery. All are relatively expensive, none nourish the skin in any way, all have some nasty possible side effects, and all of them have to be repeated as their effects fade. I avoid them for all those reasons, and I would be a hypocrite to recommend them.
Some dangerous ingredients, I’m sorry to say, are very common in so-called anti aging skin care treatments:
– The petroleum byproducts, including mineral oil by any of its names, liquid paraffin, paraffin wax, petrolatum and petroleum. They block pores, encourage acne and rapid skin aging, can cause photo-sensitivity so your skin sunburns more easily, and strip your skin’s natural oils, leaving your skin drier than ever.
– Fragrances are a huge variety of chemicals, many toxic. Many affect the central nervous system, causing irritability and depression. Avoid fragrances in skin creams. A light body spray is much better if you just want to smell nice. It doesn’t have to be rubbed onto the skin, which causes much more to be absorbed.
– Acrylamide, common in skin creams, is suspected of causing breast tumors.
– Polyethylene glycol (PEG), suspected of being carcinogenic.
There’s a more complete list on my website.
What works
The main causes of aging skin are well known and widely studied. Anti aging creams can only work by reversing those causes. The most important are:
– Loss of collagen and elastin, the key proteins the give skin its firmness and elasticity;
– Loss of hyaluronan or hyaluronic acid, which you might think of as the “glue” that holds collagen and elastin in youthful, healthy skin.
– Oxidation damage from free radicals in the skin, when your skin is lacking antioxidants from lack of nourishment.
In fact, every one of those can be reversed.
See my website for some modern ingredients which have shown in clinical trials they actually reverse all the major causes of skin aging and make an effective anti aging skin care treatment.

7 Certified Organic Skin Care Tips
Organic skin care is becoming big business. When you are choosing skin care, personal care and cosmetic products, you should become a label detective. This is the only way to ensure you purchase honest and truly natural and organic skin care products.
# 1: Learn To Read Product Labels
Be aware of the Rule Of Thirds:
The top third of the ingredients label generally lists the ingredients that comprise around 90-98% of the product. Most of this is usually water. Read on to find out why this matters!
The middle third generally represents approximately 5-8% of the product.
The bottom third represents around 1-3%.
# 2: ‘Natural’ skin care is not always natural.
There are two definitions of the world natural.
The dictionary definition: “Existing in or, formed by, nature”.
The cosmetic industry definition: “Any ingredient derived from a natural substance”.
Manufacturers commonly use the world ‘natural’ on labels to deceive consumers. For example, “Cocamide-DEA derived from coconut oil”.
Cocamide-DEA may well be from coconut oil, but a synthetic chemical called diethanolamine is used in the extraction process. It is known to cause cancer. An ingredient is not really natural if it has been processed in this way.
# 3: Organic doesn’t mean what you think.
An organic certification on a product label is the only way to guarantee the integrity of a product. The definition of certified organic is as follows:
“An independent third party guarantee of an organic claim”.
Always look for a logo that guarantees the product’s integrity.
Certified organic products must contain a minimum of 95% organic ingredients excluding water and salt/minerals, with a small allowance for natural, non-organic ingredients that must comply with very stringent processing criteria.
There are two definitions of organic:
Organic chemistry is concerned with substances that contain carbon. Carbon is present in all living things. Legally, the cosmetics industry is allowed to label any product that contains carbon as ‘organic’. So if it contains petrol, it is organic.
Methylparaben is derived from petrochemicals, which are derived from crude oil, which is derived from living matter. It is a widely used preservative in organic skin care products such as body creams, body wash and deodorants:
So effectively methylparaben can legally be labelled as organic. Now, it is worth noting that a recent study reported traces of methylparaben in human breast cancer tumours. The second definition of organic is, “The sustainable system of agriculture that uses natural substances & methods to create healthy nutrient rich and fertile soils”
# 4: How much water is in the product?
In personal communication with a leading industry expert, I was told what can actually be meant when companies put ‘73% Organic’ on their labels. Basically manufacturers can place a few organic teabags in a vat of water and let them infuse into the water.
Because the water constitutes 70+ percent of the overall product, the manufacturer is allowed to claim that the product is 73% organic at the top of the label (remember # 1 in this article?).
If you removed the water, the actual organic content of those fancy herbal infusions would probably be less than 0.05% of the total product.
# 5: Be aware of inconsistent labelling standards
In some countries, ingredients that are not allowed in certified organic foods ARE allowed in certified organic personal care and cosmetic products. This represents a lack of continuity or consistency in labelling standards.
How can food and cosmetics products have the same certified organic logo when ingredients that are allowed personal care and cosmetics are not allowed in food? Remember that if it’s on your skin, you’re drinking it!
# 6: Miracle ingredients don’t exist
![]()
Vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, active copper and other ingredients may be touted as miracle ingredients. The fact is that there is no miracle ingredient for the skin or hair, just as there is no magic pill for curing illness and disease.
The quality of the skin is a function of feeding the body and skin high quality nutrients over time and keeping the toxin levels of the body as low as possible.
When you use high quality, certified organic products, ALL the ingredients are active. They are ALL beneficial and they all feed the skin.
# 7: If it harms lab animals it will harm you!
If you read books by Dr Sherry Rogers, M.D, you will discover that in order to give a rat cancer or Parkinson’s Disease, it is injected with some of the very same chemicals that you will find in your cleverly labelled organic skin care, personal care and cosmetic products.
Certified Organic personal care products and cosmetics 100% free of ALL synthetic chemicals are available from an Australian Certified Organic company which has passed the stringent USDA Certified Organic standards for food. What this means to you, the consumer, is that the products are guaranteed synthetic chemical free.

Tune Up Your Skin With Toner
Skin toners are the next step after a facial cleansing routine. Skin toners ensure complete removal from the skin of all cleansing preparations. They freshen and tone up the skin and prepare a clean surface for the application of make-up.
They also restore the acid or alkali balance of the skin, because they are pH balanced. They are designed to penetrate pores, refresh and cool your skin while clearing away excess oil, impurities and dead skin cells that were not removed with your cleanser.
Toners restore the skin’s natural pH balance. When you wash your face, the pH balance of the skin is distorted leading to skin working overtime to restore pH levels; the process of skin restoring the pH levels on its own can take up as much as half and hour or more. By using a skin toner, the pH level of your skin is restored instantly.
Choose a toner appropriate for your skin type. A wide variety of toners are available. Alcohol dries the skin and harms the soluble collagen below the surface of the skin. It is thus safer to use an alcohol-free toner. The common herbs used in toners include witch hazel, geranium, honey, lemon, ivy, sage, nettle and burdock. Witch hazel has a tendency to dry the skin. It is ideal to combine it with moisturizers such as Vitamin E, honey, etc. Rosewater helps keep skin and face moisturized, fresh and balances the pH levels.
Essential oils are the gentlest way of toning up. Rose water for normal or dry/sensitive skin or witch hazel for oilier skins is ideal bases for fresheners. These can be applied with cotton wool, using smooth, gentle upward strokes or sprayed on to the face. Oily skin benefits from juniper or lemongrass whereas drier skins would benefit from rose or sandalwood.
Apply the skin toner to a cotton ball and sweep it gently across your face. The cotton wool should come out relatively clean when toning. If it is not clean it indicates the cleansing has not been done properly. Do not succumb to the temptation to tone the skin whenever you feel it has become dirty. It should be used only after the skin has completed a cleansing routine and not as a substitute for cleansing. So, remember that your toner must function as a toner and not as a cleanser.
Toning is pleasant and refreshing, can act as an additional cleanser on very oily or dirty skin, and is valuable in removing any traces of grease that the cleanser may have left behind. Think of it as the polishing touch in your skin care treatment.
Homemade Toner Recipes

Purée watermelon chunks in a processor or blender. Strain the liquid and discard the solids. Mix the strained liquid with the remaining ingredients, stir and pour into a glass bottle. Rose Skin Toner

Acne is a very common condition amongst people, strangely enough, that is undergoing some kind of hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalances does more than alter your mood, it can also cause the over production of sebum.
Even though sebum isn’t the main cause of acne, the combination of excess oil and debris found on the surface of your skin can cause clogging. The bacteria that naturally reside in our pores get trapped, multiply and cause an infection better known as breakouts. Hormonal imbalances usually occur during puberty, pregncy and menopause which is why acne can appear at any age. There are some medications that can treat hormonal imbalances, but it is not recommended as it can cause side effects such as low blood pressure and dizziness.
Instead of treating the actual hormonal imbalances with treatments that can give you unwanted side effects; the answer is to treat the symptoms. There is no magic 3 day acne cure, but there are effective acne products that can do more than clearing your breakouts.

With this ingredient, you’ll be able to tackle the root cause of acne, not just the symptoms. By using an acne skin care cream with snail serum, you’ll be able to see results within 2 weeks of applying the treatment. Who wouldn’t like that?

Skin Health Secrets: How to Apply Skin Care Products
It is pretty well known that different people get different results with the same skin care products. This can be caused by variations in body chemistry, but more often than not it’s because everyone applies skin care products differently.
Of course, if a particular product doesn’t give you the results you expect, it doesn’t always mean you are applying the product incorrectly. Unfortunately, many products just don’t work as advertised, no matter what you do! To top that off, some products may work for some people but not for others even when used properly.
Nevertheless, when a product doesn’t work, it may often be due to incorrect application. Products like skin creams, gels, or lotions are a mixture of chemicals that have a biological action, applied topically to the skin. So the effectiveness depends on whether the active ingredients work, and whether they are absorbed properly into your skin. Your skin’s temperature, hydration, environment and other factors will influence your skin’s ability to absorb the active ingredients in a product. To be sure that you get optimal effectiveness of you skin care products:
• Cleanse skin before applying any products. The best time to apply is right after you come out of a warm shower or bath because not only is your skin clean, but it is also moist and warm, so it will absorb whatever you apply much better. Do not wash with hot water because excessive heat accelerates aging. Water should be comfortably warm but not hot. However, if you plan to apply anything oily that blocks the pores, splash cool water on yourself to close pores. Just pat dry with a towel. Also, use a charcoal shower filter to prevent exposure to the chlorine in the water. You probably drink bottled or filtered water – but you can absorb more chlorine through your skin during a shower than you would get from an 8 oz. glass of water!
• When cleansing your skin, don’t use regular soap or shampoo, they’re much too drying. Use a good moisturizing soap, a skin cleanser, or plain warm (not hot) water.
• The top layer of skin is mostly made from dry, dead cells. When this layer becomes too thick, either from aging or poor skin care skin, the active ingredients of a skin care product have trouble penetrating. Professional microdermabrasion safely removes that top layer of skin, revealing the healthier, younger-looking skin underneath and allowing skin care products to be better absorbed for greater effectiveness. In addition, microdermabrasion done regularly strengthens the skin by stimulating elastin and collagen production, which helps diminish wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars and many other blemishes.
• Use short, firm strokes to apply skin care products. Do not stretch the skin. Do not rub. After applying, gently massage the products into your skin by tapping the area with your fingers for 30 seconds or so.
• When using a professional microdermabrasion product at home, it is important to read the directions and follow them very carefully. Remember, professional microdermabrasion is usually applied with expensive machines and medically-trained professionals. You can save a lot by doing it yourself, but don’t be over-eager to get that 10-years-younger look. Apply the sponges gently the first time – let your skin adjust to the application. Add a little more time and pressure each application, about 2 weeks apart, up to a maximum of 3-5 minutes (depending on the sensitivity of your skin).

DO YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN?
Did you know sensitive skin is very common? More than 40% of people say they have it. Its causes include age, heredity, gender, and racial differences. These questions below can help you find out if your skin may be sensitive. Of course, a trip to your dermatologist is the best way to find out!
1. Does your skin get extra dry after you wash it with soap?
2. Does your skin get extra oily and break out after you use particular types of moisturizers?
If you answered “Yes” to one or both of these questions, you may have sensitive skin.
3. Does your skin get red, itch, burn, or feel “tight” after coming into direct or indirect contact with perfumes and/or particular shampoos, shaving creams, detergents, dish soaps, hair sprays, cleaning products, or deodorants?
Irritants to sensitive skin include many household and personal products. The fragrances and dyes in just about every household product, and many personal care products, can cause irritation either from direct contact or even from deposits left on your clothes, towels, or bedding. If you have any of the classic signs and symptoms of sensitive skin in Question 3, try to use hypoallergenic products without ingredients known to cause skin reactions.
4. Does your skin get red, itch, burn, or feel “tight” after extended exposure to sun, wind, heat, or cold?
Sensitive skin often reacts to extreme weather conditions. In fact, anything in the environment that damages your skin’s natural protective barrier against water evaporation — called sebum — can irritate sensitive skin.
5. Do you have acne or psoriasis?
People with acne, psoriasis, or skin conditions like eczema often have sensitive skin. These conditions impair immune system functioning and/or destroy the skin’s protective barrier. If you have of these conditions, you may have sensitive skin.

How to Find the Best Anti Aging Skin Care Treatment Products
![]()
My answer is definitely yes, because otherwise you rely completely on what the manufacturers claim to be the best anti aging skin treatment. You don’t want to be in that position, remember they are the ones trying to sell and make money, and far from all companies truly care about what your skin looks like.
With that said, let’s look at how you can separate the good anti aging skin care treatment products from the bad ones.
What to Avoid
There are some widely used ingredients in skincare products that are nothing but cheap, ineffective fillers. You find them mainly in unnatural products, and they should be avoided as much as you can. Examples of cheap, ineffective and potentially harmful ingredients are mineral oil, parabens, fragrances, dioxanes and alcohols. I encourage you to research a little on your own to find out what names they can be listed under in the ingredients and what skin issues they can cause.
What to Look For
Among the completely natural anti aging skin care treatment products you will find a safe and effective one. But even natural products need proof for their efficiency, so choose products with clinically proven effective ingredients.
Look for natural products that state to have high amounts, about 50%, of effective and active ingredients. A few examples of proven effective ingredients to look for are CynergyTK, Phytessence Wakame, Natural vitamin E and Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10.
These are proven to reduce wrinkles and make the skin smoother, firmer, more even-colored and simply younger looking.

Skin Care Products

You are never too young or too old to start taking care of your skin. In fact, skin care and protection should be an essential part of your health, fitness, and beauty regime. If you take care of your skin, your skin will take care of you! But with all of the lotions, creams, and potions on the market, it can be difficult to know which product will work for you.
Many products claim to remove wrinkles or heal dry skin. Others claim to contain expensive ingredients that they say will improve the effects of the product. Here is a guide to the basic skin care products on the market, and how you can decipher which product will work best for you.
A Look At The Products
There are several types of skin care products that may make a useful additional to your daily skin care. These include cleansers, sunscreens, moisturizers, eye creams, toners, exfoliants, retinoids, herbals, and skin care supplements. Cleansers: Cleansers help to remove the dirt, debris, pollutants and perspiration that accumulate on your skin throughout the day. They may come in liquid, foam, or bar form.
Sunscreen: Sunscreen is an essential product for the care and protection of your skin. While it is true that some exposure to sunshine is necessary for the body to synthesize vitamin D, you really only need 10-15 minutes each day to accomplish this. Excess sun exposure can cause changes in the skin cells leading to damage. People with fair skin need to be much more careful than those with darker skin. But dark skin can become damaged too. Applying a liberal amount of a natural sunscreen with at least an SPF 15 will prevent sun damage and lower your risk of developing skin cancer. Many moisturizers come with sunscreen already included.
Moisturizer: Moisturizers can soothe dry skin and make wrinkles less noticeable. They come in cream, lotion, and oil form. Oil based moisturizers are good for severely dry skin on the body whereas a cream or lotion is a better choice for the face as it will leave the face feeling less heavy and greasy. Use a moisturizer right after bathing to seal moisture into your skin.
Eye Creams: An eye cream can help to improve the condition of the fragile skin around the eyes. It helps to hydrate and protect this area and it may even help to minimize dark circles or temporarily tighten fine lines.
Toners: Skin toners offer a bit of extra cleansing to skin that tends to be combination or oily. But if your skin has become dry, avoid using a skin toner. These skin care products often contain alcohol or acetone, and they can aggravate dry or sensitive skin.
Exfoliants: Moisturizers and cleansers that contain exfoliants help to improve the appearance of skin by sloughing off dead cells on the skin’s surface. They may also help to smooth out the skin’s appearance and even out discoloration from overexposure to sun. Since older skin does not naturally lose dead skin cells as easily as younger skin does, an exfoliant may be a good product for skin that appears rough and sallow with age.
Retinoids: Topical vitamin-A based products called retinoids have made significant advances in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They help to temporarily “plump up” the area around a wrinkle and diminish its visibility. This is not a solution for long term results.
Herbals: Green tea and other herbal antioxidants can be applied topically or taken orally to fight free radical damage to the skin and approve its overall appearance.
Supplements: Coenzyme Q10 is a naturally occurring cellular antioxidant that has shown potential in the prevention and treatment of several diseases, such as heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. It is also utilized in many moisturizing products for its wrinkle reducing properties.
Deciphering The Ingredient Label
You may be wondering why skin care products come with such a confusing labeling system. The Food and Drug Administration receives many requests each year to decipher the language of cosmetic and personal care product labels. But while they empathize with consumers, there really is no way to change the labeling and keep the information accurate. The ingredients need to be listed by their chemical names because that is essentially what they are. Even though a product may be marketed by its trade name, this name will provide little clue as to the identity of its ingredients. But despite the technical language of the skin care product’s label, it is possible to glean some useful information. Ingredients must be listed in sequence based on how much is included in the formula. As a consumer, you can compare similar products by seeing where a particular ingredient falls in the list. For example, if you have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid a product that lists alcohol as its first ingredient, but one with alcohol as one of the last ingredients may not aggravate your skin. Of course it is best to avoid alcohol completely.

For the most part, I agree with your husband. I don’t trust over-the-counter products to be my ultimate beauty solution. I recommend speaking with your doctor/dermatologist about a cream with retinol. Getting a prescribed cream with retinol. And since you demonstrate a lot of your workouts out in the sun, use lots of sunscreen and wear makeup that is oil-free and contains sunscreen. You’re never too young to be concerned about skin care. Hope this is helpful to you.
